Matt Van Dyk, from Imlay City, Mich., accepted a scholarship to Hope College after high school with plans to go to MSU after two years. However, after just one semester at Hope College Van Dyk transferred to St. Clair County Community College and sat out the 2013 winter season because of transfer rules.
Van Dyk walked on to MSU in the fall of 2014 and sat out the 2014-15 season because of NCAA transfer rules. He participated as a key member of MSU’s scout team, but was not allowed to travel with the team. Van Dyk was named co-winner of MSU’s Tim Bograkos Walk-On Award. Now as a redshirt-junior Van Dyk has appeared in 15 games for MSU, scoring in six of those games with a career-high of four points.
